Herefordshire Council has published two Definitive Map Modification Orders under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, proposing the addition of several public bridleways to the Definitive Map and Statement (the legal record of public rights of way).
The proposed routes affecting Yarkhill are:
- Bridleway YK20
- Bridleway YK21
- Connecting routes WS5 and WS6 in the neighbouring parish of Westhide.
The Orders are based on historical evidence which Herefordshire Council considers demonstrates that these routes should be formally recorded as public bridleways.
A public bridleway may be used by:
- Walkers
- Horse riders
- Cyclists (who must give way to walkers and horse riders).
The consultation provides an opportunity for members of the public to make representations or objections to the proposed Orders.
Consultation Deadline: Monday, 7 September 2026
Yarkhill Parish Council will consider its response to the consultation at its meeting on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
